The kitchen remodel/laundry room build has extended into the rest of the house. We are having to move Christmas to the kids' apartment because I can't get anything back into the living room in time. Hopefully we can get this done before New Year's.

Kitchen Remodel: Day 3

Today is the third day of the massive kitchen remodel. We weren't planning on doing anything but replacing the counters, but once they were off we saw the cabinets were rotten and falling apart, so they had to go too. Next went the window over my sink and the cabinets above where the stove sat so a built-in microwave can go there. I am also getting a new stove (gas) because the electric one lost a burner and because Marshall is putting in a gas line when he moves the laundry area to the back porch and gets me a gas dryer. Whew! It is going to be at least a week before the house is back in order.
Heather is now working watching the twins. Her husband Sean is working at a local movie theater, and Ian is working at a convenience store. The three are looking at getting a house together and if they do move out it will only be Marshall and me and the two youngest boys. I am not going to know how to cook for so few people.
I hope I can update with a few pictures as the work continues, but I will see. Have a great week everybody :)

Since I am sure there aren't many readers on here I haven't been posting lately because life has been really chaotic since school started. I have been busy trying to keep it all straight since Marshall isn't working at a regular job anymore because of his back. He has been babysitting for his sister, watching the twins, but that is about to end too because he can't handle the pain and keeps losing the feeling in both legs. He is afraid he will drop one of the babies or will fall when carrying one of them.
Heather is working now, and Ian is trying to get another job since his old one isn't giving him the hours he wants. Sean is hard at work at school with the DATA program and theater and orchestra.
That's about all, but with what I wrote, plus all the stuff in between, it is making for long days and even longer times between posts. Maybe one day it will get better :)

Got the photos of the play. Here are a few:
Anthony is the one saluting. He is my "adopted" son. He lived with us for over a year and still thinks of me as his other mom :)

Here is my son Sean in his lederhosen. He hated that outfit.

This is the entire cast. These are all high school students, and they did a great job. Harley and her brother Reno are in the pic too. Harley is the girl on the bottom row right with the really big wings and Reno is in the back row behind the boy in the silver gown (the kid was playing the sandman, btw.) and the girl in the red dress.

Time to give in to vanity

OK, so I am not the most vain person in terms of my appearance, but today I finally gave in on one thing: the gray hairs had to go. So I am back to being a redhead again.. It is pretty close to what my natural hair color would be without the gray, so I am happy. I don't like straying from my natural color too much because it grows out in a really obvious way and I go a long time between coloring, sometimes even years. I needed to color before the wedding, so I figured now was as good a time as any. Now the only thing I have left to do is get my nails done and I will be all set.
It has been raining here about every two days or so, off and on for a couple of weeks now. The front yard looks like a swamp and the back is a little pond. Texas is not known for it's rain, so this is a really good thing. San Antonio is under level 2 water restrictions right now because our aquifer is under 650 feet. I am hoping all this rain brings us out of the drought conditions. I don't want another summer like last year. It was hot hot hot and horribly dry.
Tonight we are having corned beef and cabbage for dinner. I just love the way it smells when it is cooking, but with my issues and not being able to eat meats, the smell is the only joy I get out of it; well, that and I can eat the cabbage :) Being a vegetarian in a house full of carnivores is interesting, to say the least.
Sean's play went well last Friday. He was in the school production of Hansel and Gretel. A lot of my "adopted" kids were in it too: Anthony, Reno and Harley. I will post pics when I can get them uploaded. Sean was really cute in his lederhosen (even if he hated wearing them). I guess when you are a 15 year old male, wearing anything that looks like that would be embarrassing. I tried to tell him that at least it isn't a dress, but he wasn't listening :)
Well, that's about it from our house. Have a great week everyone!

Busy Busy Busy

It has been a really busy month around here. Heather is getting married on June 19th and we are scrambling around getting the last of the things in order. Today it is the day we go look for her wedding cake. Oh joy. I am so glad I am only having to do this once. Jess got married in Vegas, so we didn't have to go through all of this with her.
Scotty is fitting in well with the other animals. He and Cuddles are fast friends and chase each other all over the house. How cute :)
We went and changed banks last week and now we have money that we can't get to easily and it is driving me nuts. We are waiting for the PINs for the cards to come in so they can be activated. We got the cards themselves yesterday. Hope the PINs come today. I hate being broke.
Well, time to get ready to go. Have a great week everyone!

He has a name now!

Marshall has finally given in and named the puppy. His name is Scotty and he responds to it. I think he is going to make a great addition to the house.

New Family Member

Here is the newest member of the family. He doesn't have a name yet though. He was rescued by Bryan this morning after Bry saw him get clipped by a car. Bry was on the way to school and turned around and brought him home. Isn't he adorable?

Hidradenitis Suppurativa

In case you are wondering about the name at the top of this post, it is something Marshall has been battling for about a week now. It is a skin condition that starts out looking like a boil, then rapidly developing into the boil from hell, complete with severe horrible pain. He has a breakout on his right armpit. Looks like there might be a couple more in the works too. He hasn't slept properly for four nights now, and can't even sit normally because he can't put his right arm down at his side. Talk about a hideous thing to have to deal with. From what I have read, this is a recurring, cure-less, so painful it causes depression, debilitating disease. Needless to say, he is upset and not in a good place mentally right now. He was initially diagnosed with shingles, but it wasn't that. I think shingles would have been easier to deal with. I hate watching him in pain and knowing there is nothing I can do to make it go away.

Time Flies again

Here it is a month after the last post and lots going on. I have gone back to being vegetarian. I am sick of feeling sick and tired, so I decided it was time to do something about it. Bryan has been working to get my bike back on the road after his accident on it, and things are looking up.
Heather's wedding is in 4 months and she is getting ready. We have a dress ready to order, we have the church and minister (Thanks Robert!) and the invitations are already sent. The last things are the big ones, cake, caterer, flowers, and clothes for me and her brothers. All we have to do is get Marshall's suit pants taken in and he is ready.
The next few months are going to be busy ones.
Until next time. Peace and love to all.

Got it Fixed

Well, here it is, my new look. I am one of those bloggers that doesn't like looking at the same thing all the time. Got the computer fixed, but now my printer isn't working. One thing after another, eh?
The New Year came and went with no drama, then it all hit the fan.
Heather's wedding invitations are going out in the mail tomorrow since she finished them last night. We got the news last Tuesday that Marshall will not have a job as of the 23rd. His store is closing and there is no other store here that needs an assistant manager, so out he goes. That stinks, seeing as everyone's birthdays are coming up in the next few months. His back is getting worse too, which is going to make it even harder for him to get another job.  At least we have enough food to last for a while.
Well, that's about it for now. Maybe I can post again later this week.
